Tuesday Tip {Frozen Bananas}

I am normally not a picky eater.
I’ll try most anything once and sometimes even twice.
But I have a super sensitive texture thing going on when it comes to bananas.

I buy them green and eat them right after they’ve turned yellow.  I like them very firm and NOT mushy at all!!

Well that’s a problem if you buy 10 bananas at a time!!
I can’t eat all 10 they day they turn yellow or even in the first two days.  And I never know who will be in a banana mood around here.

So what do I do with the 8 brown, spotted, mushy bananas?

That’s EASY!!

I peel them.
Slice them in rounds.
Then I pop them in the freezer (2 bananas to a bag)!

And there they sit waiting to become smoothies, muffins or whatever else I have a hankering for.

I love that nothing gets wasted!!

I’ve most recently made a healthy shake for breakfast with my frozen doubloons.

2 frozen bananas, pre-sliced before freezing
1 1/2 Tbsp cocoa powder
1 cup milk (or almond milk)
1 Tbsp maple syrup or sugar/sweetener
1 heaping Tbsp peanut butter

Combine in a blender and blend until desired consistency.

This shake is super frothy, healthy and so delicious!!

Another favorite that everybody in the Sewell house loves is a smoothie with frozen mixed berries, a sprinkle of sugar and  enough milk to pull it all together. Blend it up and it’s Happy Happy Happy!

There are TONS of ways to use frozen bananas.  Just type “frozen banana recipes” in the Pinterest search box and find something you’ll enjoy!

Happy Freezing!!
