The Happy Secret

in faith

I’ve taken a “computer break” over the last few days.  My Mac needed some major cleaning done.  It was stuffed to the gills with pictures!!  😉  Thankfully I have a man who can help me take care of things like that.

And instead of writing about food or crafts today, I want to write about life and happiness.  Have you ever come across someone who seems to move from crisis to crisis in their life.  They crawl over one hurdle only to immediately encounter another one.  Are YOU that person?  I have both been that person and I have also met that person.  I mean that’s really what life is right?  One mountain or struggle right after another.  It’s amazing how different one 24 hour period can be from the next.  What’s wonderful today can turn into horror tomorrow.  There’s no getting around it.  Sounds pretty depressing and hopeless right.  I can see why Jack Nicholson would say, “You can’t handle the truth!”

However, there is HOPE for the believer in Jesus Christ!

Psalm 84

1 How lovely is Your dwelling place,
LORD of Hosts.

    2 I long and yearn
for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and flesh cry out for the living God.

We all have a built in yearning for our Maker, the Living God, inside our souls.

    3 Even a sparrow finds a home,
and a swallow, a nest for herself
where she places her young—
near Your altars, LORD of Hosts,
my King and my God.

Even the sparrow finds a home near the Lord; there is a place for YOU.

    4 How happy are those who reside in Your house,
who praise You continually.

The word “happy” there insinuates the eternal blessings, prosperity and security that just being near to Almighty God provides.
Selah

    5 Happy are the people whose strength is in You,
whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.

    6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca,
they make it a source of springwater;
even the autumn rain will cover it with blessings.

At some point and time, we all pass through valleys and troubled times on our journey through this life.  And when we do, our Heavenly Father so graciously supplies us with life giving water.  He fulfills our emotional and physical needs.  Truly, He is good.

    7 They go from strength to strength;
each appears before God in Zion.

This is my favorite verseInstead of going from crisis to crisis, we CAN go from strength to strength.  Relying on our Father and His sufficient grace and provision it is possible to travel through those “weeping valleys” going from one place of strength to the next.

    8 LORD God of Hosts, hear my prayer;
listen, God of Jacob.
9 Consider our shield, God;
look on the face of Your anointed one.

    10 Better a day in Your courts
than a thousand [anywhere else].
I would rather be at the door of the house of my God
than to live in the tents of the wicked.

It is when we are in the presence of our God that we see life for what it truly is.  In His presence we can determine the temporal from the eternal.  Having that eternal mindset is a strong foundation and provides strength and hope in this life.

    11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield.
The LORD gives grace and glory;
He does not withhold the good
from those who live with integrity.

    12 LORD of Hosts,
happy is the person who trusts in You!

I am thankful that God IS who He says He is.  He IS my sun and shield.  He wraps me in His grace and glory and blesses me with many good things.  And it is only when I trust in Him that I am truly happy.

So that’s our happy secret!!  Pass it on!

Hugs!!
