You really just never know what you’re going to get with Lilly Sewell. On top of her EOS disease she has LOTS of allergies and the list kinda seems to be growing. She’s a carbon copy of her older brother who also has Eosinophilic Esophagitis and lots of allergies EXCEPT, Lilly is a WILDCARD!! Where Tobin, who is 5 which means we’ve been doing it longer with him, is pretty much manageable and predictable Lilly is a wildcard!! Anything at anytime can set her off. Monday night around supper time I noticed her face was a little swollen….not out of the norm for us. So we gave her some Benedryl and put her to bed at bedtime. She woke up Tuesday morning looking like this!
Unfortunately, the pictures don’t really do it justice. We did Benedryl all day yesterday and nothing has really changed. SOOOOO…..this morning when she still looked like this I decided we might should go to the doctor just to make sure it’s not something other than an allergic reaction….which can and has lasted for weeks on her sensitive skin. The doctor walked in today and his first words were, “Wow….that’s impressive.” Not a good sign!! Her skin, all over, is pretty fired up right now. She’s even got some small bruising around several of her little spots that she doesn’t touch so we had to get the dreaded CBC with the finger prick. We were all good up until that point. All in all the diagnosis after a nurse practitioner AND a physician took a look at her was, “we don’t know”. We’ve been here before with the Wildcard soooo we’ll ride this out and hopefully she won’t get worse. They both agreed that she wasn’t contagious so if you see us out and about you don’t have to run the other way. Benedryl will be in her diet for the next few days as well as an oral antibiotic for some infected places she had on her skin. *sigh* Another day in the life of Lilly “Wildcard” Sewell!
