Yay!! I am just TICKLED PINK, GIDDY and PUMPED today!! I started Seasons With The Sewells in January of 2011 really to just have an outlet for some creative writing. I really thought I’d just blog about my children and life in general but it has really morphed into something that I never envisioned….until I got started that is!
I LOVE sharing with you the seasons of our lives. I am a minimalist. I like to keep things SIMPLE. And simplicity touches every area of my life. I have one small make-up bag that contains 2 colors of eye shadow, and 2 colors of blush aside from my foundation, 1 eye liner and 1 mascara, that’s IT! When I’m cooking or crafting, the less the steps and ingredients/supplies the better. For me, LESS really is MORE!! It just helps to keep me sane with a husband and 3 children in this house!!
I don’t know the exact time or post that made me want to go to the next “blog level”….where I’m not just documenting our daily lives but also getting YOUR creative juices flowing. I want to show you ideas for simplifying your own life. Everything you have seen on this blog thus far truly comes from our everyday life. I don’t craft nor do I cook for the sake of blogging about it. You will see my children helping me with LOTS of these dishes and projects because that’s the season I am in now. Plus, they LOVE to help mom in the kitchen or at the craft table. Well, they LOVE to help until it’s time to clean up. I made Ruthie (7) and Tobin (6) wash dishes recently. Dishes were piled up and it was mostly their plastic bowls and cups….I’d had enough so I gave the job to them. They got set up at the sink and were discussing who will do what, rinse or wash. I overheard the conversation and heard Ruthie say, “Well, we’d better hurry up and get busy ’cause you know Mama will make us sit here all night until we get this done!!” I had a good hearty laugh (that I kept to myself)!!! I enjoy getting to observe them so closely in these short early years. They make my heart smile.
So, why am I celebrating today?? It’s going to sound so silly to you….I know it is!! But my chalkboard place mats were FEATURED on Yesterday on Tuesday’s crafty soiree link party!!!! I noticed a lot of buzz on my little tiny blog last week. I checked it out and stumbled upon Yesterday on Tuesday and saw MY KITCHEN at the top of the page!!!! I nearly jumped out of my skin. I really am amazed that anybody reads anything I post…much less LIKES it!!! Not only was I featured on Yesterday on Tuesday, but some sweet soul actually pinned that pic on Pinterest!! I’ve been pinned!! I feel the need to say, “They like me! They really like me!!” It just does my heart good to feel some love ya know!!
Are you wondering….when is she ever going to get the the giveaway part?? Well, here it us. Just because I am so excited over this “success” I want to give you something to create some crafty magic as well!! Some of my FAVORITE things!!
