My baby is now a three year old!!
Oh I can’t believe it!!
In anticipation of this major milestone, she’s let me know that she really doesn’t want to be three. She wants to be two because two’s better. *sigh* I can’t agree more.
If only I could stop time.
But that’s impossible so I try my best to enjoy each moment that her precious life brings. She’s so full of personality!! She has been looking forward to her birthday party for quite a while now. We’ve been doing a lot of partying lately and she has quickly caught on to how much fun birthdays can be.
In thinking about a “theme” for her party, I tried to convince her to go with Minnie Mouse. She ADORES Minnie and the whole gang. I thought it would be easy and fun to decorate for a Minnie party. But she INSISTED on a Dora party. Which is totally fine. She loves Dora too. And it’s her party so if it’s Dora she wants, then it’s Dora she’ll get.
So I got my mind rolling in the Dora direction. And it was about that time that she decided she wanted a Dora-Minnie Mouse party. Yep, she’s a typical fickle female!! I thought for a moment about combining the two but with all of the holiday hustle and bustle my mind just wouldn’t go there.
For the invitations (which you can see on the fridge in the picture below), I simply drew Dora’s face on a sheet of paper, colored it and color copied it. Once they were printed I cut them out and wrote all the fun party details on the back.I wanna give a huge shout out to Pinterest!! It really made this party planning so much easier. I am a busy homeschooling mother of three with NOT a lot of extra time on my hands. So I am more than happy to let someone else do all the grunt work of thinking and coming up with great ideas!! Get ready for lots of pics!! 😉Dora yogurt is one of her FAVORITE breakfast treats!! So I decided brunch would be perfect!
The pinwheels made another appearance. You can see how I made them here. This time I attached them to pixie stix.
Backpack party favor bags!! These were so fun and EASY to make. I know Backpack has a little bit of a tan but this color was the only one I could find. I used my Cricut to cut ovals for the eyes and mouth.More Cricut action here for the banner…
The sweet birthday girl!!Reading some Dora books while waiting for her party guests to arrive. We colored some Dora pictures while everybody was arriving. Then we danced to some Dora music!! I’m A Little Tea Pot, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Dora’s ABC’s, and of course we can’t forget the Hokey Pokey-Dora style!!Then we played pin the tale on Swiper!!
Lilly has been looking forward to her birthday for A LONG TIME now!! Every morning for what has seemed like months, she has asked me if it’s her party today. And once the day finally arrived she just couldn’t contain her excitement!! Here she is screaming at the top of her lungs…..just for the fun of it!It’s my party and I’ll scream if I want to!! And the more you laugh, the more I’ll scream!!Happy Birthday!!
After eating our goodies, we moved back to the school room for presents. Strawberry Shortcake is another FAVORITE of hers!!This bag held a Dora doll that she has carried around with her since it was received..along with Strawberry!!This one’s from mom and dad!!It’s MINNIE!!!Minnie goes everywhere we do now!! We forgot her on our way to church on Sunday. We were running late (the story of my life) so I couldn’t fulfill her request to turn around and get her.Sweet hugs from sister!!Here’s daddy helping to dress Strawberry ShortcakeDora party= SUCCESS!!
